Vic Dohar is primarily a self-taught artist, with watercolour as his medium of choice.  Trained as a cartographer, he uses the fundamentals of colour theory, design, composition and drawing skills towards the creation and progression of his watercolour paintings. By incorporating these techniques and using a limited colour palette, he is able to achieve a variety of effects from detailed subjects to free and loose washes. More recently, he has continued the development of this medium in a contemporary environment by incorporating “negative” and under-painting techniques as learned from well-known Canadian watercolour artist Linda Kemp.

Vic Dohar exhibits regularly at local art exhibitions and is a member of the Ottawa Watercolour Society, the Nepean Fine Arts League and the Manotick Art Association. His paintings have been accepted in numerous OWS juried shows and many are in private collections in Canada and the U.S.A. Commissions are welcomed.
