Laura entered the Ottawa School of Art in 1988 and she studied a full fine-arts program. She won the Amelia Loabe Scholarship in 1990 and then went on to graduate in 1992. Before finishing art school she sold her first painting titled “Tiger Scape”. She went on to exhibit in various shows and has won awards from The Nepean Fine Arts League and The Ottawa Orchid Society . Laura is a self-taught wildlife painter and her work centers on wildlife diversity in high realism. Laura wishes to continue painting wildlife. One of her goals is to paint all forms of wildlife and to teach the importance of bio-diversity on this planet. Artist's StatementThere is so much diversity on this planet. The wonder of Nature is so immense, it is hard to describe. Animals and plants on each continent are unique in their own ways. In my paintings, I have focussed on individuality. I render each painting closely and creatively, interpreting the way I feel about each species. No one species of animal or plant is more important than another; they both add a challenge to the canvas, providing a window to my soul.
