“ Nena “

“ Nena “ – Ana Maria Rutenberg grew up in Mexico City as the youngest of five children and the only girl. This is where her nickname comes from:    “Nena” means, “ little baby girl ” in Spanish. She uses this name to sign her artwork.

Since very young, Ana Maria liked to draw and paint. She studied art and design in Mexico, Italy and Germany acquiring international knowledge. In Mexico and Montreal, she worked as a Graphic Designer for over 25 years, and her professional work has been exhibited in Mexico and Germany. Ana Maria has been recognized as one of the first “Women in Design” by the Design Centre in Stuttgart, Germany and she is featured on the web site of the “HfG” Ulm School of Design in Germany: www.frauen-hfg-ulm.de

Since 1996, Ana Maria decided to fully dedicate her time for her passion of painting watercolours. To refresh her knowledge, she enrolled in various courses taught by recognized teachers like Crystal Beshara, Nancy Myron and Heather Gallup.

As an artist, she always tries to give a meaning to her paintings; the subject has to talk to her. Her radian watercolours and acryl paintings, some with themes influenced by her Mexican heritage, show bright colours, exotic flowers and interesting subjects. She is a Canadian by choice; one who enjoys painting the magnificent Canadian landscape. Some of her paintings are in private collections in Mexico, Germany and Canada.

Ana Maria takes part in local art shows and exhibitions and is a member of the KAC   ( Kanata Art Club ), Stittsville Art Group, OMMA ( Ottawa Mix Media Artists), NFAL (Nepean Fine Arts League) and SGGOFA ( Fine Art Guild in Prescott ON. )
